Lara Funk, a PhD candidate at Heriot-Watt University is examining the impact of social responsibility tools on worker welfare in global seafood supply chains. Lara’s background is in sustainable development and marine socio-ecological systems and she holds degrees from Duke University and the University of Edinburgh. Jake Norton is critically evaluating the benefits, constraints, negative impacts, and gaps in existing social responsibility requirements in current global aquaculture supply for businesses, employees and the surrounding community. This research is funded by the Aquaculture Stewardship Council, Sustainable Aquaculture Innovation Centre, Seafresh Group and their supplier GGM, plus AquaScot and their supplier Bakkafrost, and the Aquaculture Stewardship Council. Sources, Sinks and Solutions for Impacts of Plastics on Coastal Communities in Viet Nam
Ingrid Kelling and Nguyen Sy Ling are leading this Work Package on Governance and Policy to reconcile the economic and social benefits of plastic with its hazards in order to reduce negative impacts, minimize future risks, and build effective policy instruments and institutional structures that lead to effective plastics management along its full life cycle in Vietnam.
